If you cannot modify the Homepage setting in your phone (i.e many Verizon phones have set it to http://homepage) ZaksWap will detect that and reconfigure requests on the fly, so you dont have to worry about it and your browsing will work.
After changing the WAP settings and you cannot access the Internet, clear your browser memory (cache, cookies, etc). Look for an option 'Clear Memory' in your cell browser settings. You may also want to set 'Cache Start-Up' to OFF.
If you still can't get connected please post in the forums for help.
Important Concepts
Before you can connect to ZaksWap, you will need to have your wap account activated. To request for wap acct fill in the form here http://www.zaksenterprises.com/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=registerUser&Itemid=97 You will then receive a private message confirming that your wap acct. has been activated. You will also be able to add or change the links on your wap homepage in the "change settings section of the wap manager here http://www.zaksenterprises.com/index.php?option=com_comprofiler&task=homePage Also data has to be enabled on the phone. Many times people that have never used WAP/WEB 2.0/INTERNET, or who have their Mobile Web plan turned off will also have data disabled on their phone. Many people that have had phones replaced and didn't opt for Mobile Web service suffer from this problem as well. If this happens, you will not be able to use ZaksWap (or any other proxy for that matter) until your carrier turns data back on. Fortunately there's an easy way to figure out if data is enabled on your phone, and an easy way to get it fixed if it isn't.
The way we can test to see if data is enabled is to use Get It Now (GIN) or similar service from your carrier.
Go to your GIN menu and try to download a list of games, or any other GIN item. If GIN works perfectly, then we're probably dealing with a configuration error. Please contact us for further assistance. If you receive an error message like "Unable to retrieve catalog, please try again later" then chances are quite high that data is not enabled on your phone.
If this is the case, you can call your carrier and tell them and fix it for you. Once you can get GIN items (game lists, app lists, whatever), then you should be able to access ZaksWap sucessfully.
Important concepts here:
- Data is not WAP/WEB 2.0/Internet, however; data must be enabled before WAP/WEB 2.0/Internet will work.
- You can test that data is enabled by confirming that GIN works.
- If GIN does not work, then WAP/WEB 2.0/Internet will not work.
- If GIN does not work, ONLY your carrier can fix it
- If GIN does not work, you have to call your carrier and tell them "I can't use GIN on my phone." They will flip a switch and GIN should start working.
For Verizon subscribers, unless you have the Vcast Vpak with Mobile Web 2.0, minutes will be deducted from your plan in accordance with peak usage for voice. Nights and Weekend use of Mobile Web does not use minutes from your plan.

Thank you and enjoy
Important Note: Always backup any information that you are changing. It's always better to be safe then sorry... Just write it down on a piece of paper, and don't loose it(if you don't think you can do this, then copy it into your notepad, or similar tool, on your phone). --SmokeyMP 20:43, 19 December 2007 (PST)

I was able to get the Kyocera SE47 (slider phone) to work. Here's what I did:
- Type 111111 in on the main screen, like you would a phone number. and hit ok. That brings up a menu.
- Go to Browser Setup, at the very bottom of the list
- Go to UP.Link B
- Add the IP and port info to primary, hit next
- If there's a second set of info, add it to secondary, hit next
- Close that all up, open the browser
- The browser is set to use the info in UP.Link A by default...this must be changed. When the browser times out(or gives you a security key not recognized message), click on setup.
- Choose UP.Link
- Choose UP.Link B
- ...and you should be good to go. When you restart the browser, it'll ask what you would like to set your homepage as. Use http://wap.zaksenterprises.com/index2.php?username=(your10digitcell#)

LG VX4600
I would double check all the settings. The one thing I had to do different and that was to enter a zero for the empty portion of the ip address I.E. for 11.11.11.11 , 011.011.011.011. Other than that make sure the WAP proxy is pointing to the right place. When I talked about pointing to the correct WAP proxy I was referring to step 7 listed above in your instructions for LG VX4400 & VX6000:
7.Go back to Advanced. Then press 3 for Set WAP Proxy and switch to Proxy #2. After this you may either be prompted for a homepage or be sent to Openwave's homepage. When this happens, go back and repeat STEP 6.
If the user misses or misconfigures this they will likely have issues.

LG VX5300
In order to modify the WAP settings on the 5300, you will need to edit a file. Which means, you will have to connect to your phone via Bluetooth on your PC. I personally use the IVT BlueSoleil bluetooth drivers, and enable the serial connection. Now connect to your phone using BitPim, and browse the filesystem.
Download the ows/paramfiltable1.fil file to your computer. Using a HEX editor such as XVI32, open the parafiltable1.fil file. Change the third byte in the file from "00" to "20". Save the file, and overwrite it on your phone. Reboot your phone now. (Click here for a screenshot of the correctly edited file)
Once you have the parafiltable1.fil file "hacked", you can now proceed to editing the WAP settings.
- Press MENU
- Hit 0
- The secret code is 000000
- Now go to WAP Setting
Fill in the information like so:
- Primary Proxy Address Setting: 208.38.178.138
- Secondary Proxy Address Setting: 67.182.7.246
- Primary Port: 9201
- Secondary Port: 9201
- Username: -your 10 digit cell#-
- Password: -zaks's wap password-
- Homepage: http://google.com
Once done editing the WAP settings, the phone should restart, and you should be good to go!
Any menu item in the WAP setting area not mentioned above, leave as the default setting.

Part 1:
- Download and install the most recent version of BitPim.
- Connect the phone to the PC with a USB cable or Bluetooth.
- Once your phone is connected via USB or Bluetooth, fire up BitPim and select VX8300 {or your phone model if listed}
- With the phone selected, click on View -> View Filesystem then click on the Filesystem tab.
- Copy /OWS/paramtable1.fil to your harddrive.
Important: Make a backup copy of this file before you start working on it.
- Open the file with a hex editor (XVI32 is a good free-ware option). Navigate to the third byte and change the value from 00 to 20.
- Upload the file with BitPim back to the phone.
- USE BitPim to reboot your phone. Right click one of the folders in the filesystem and select Reboot Phone.
Part 2:

- Set your Homepage to http://wap.zaksenterprises.com/index2.php?username=your10digitcell# Just replace your10digitcell# with your actual cell#
- Reboot the phone.
- Use WAP Manager to add wap links on your Zaks homepage if you've gone that route. This is a good, quick way to get started. Here are some Wap Linksour members have submitted.
All the pre-defined phone WAP shortcuts email/chat/get news... have pre-defined url's in the paramtable1 file; If left unchanged the phone will attempt to access the Verizon site which will reject you if you don't have VCAST access. However, you are connected to Zaks and can access other WAP sites(as you've seen). If you change the url's in the paramtable1 file those shortcuts can be set to whatever you like and you can avoid the time-outs and connection-lost errors.
LG Chocolate (vx8500)
These steps are confirmed working on this phone with the proxy.
- Warning: Any damage you do to your phone is your responsibility.
Requirements:
- Before you can change your settings, you'll need software that provides access to the phone's filesystem. The most recent version of Bitpim is a popular option.
- USB Drivers for your phone.
- USB Cable for your phone.
- A HEX Editor. Here is XVI32, a Freeware Editor:
http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm">
Once you've installed your phone's driver, Bitpim and a Hex Editor, you're ready to begin.
These steps are for changing the WAP Proxy on the Chocolate...
- In Bitpim, use 'detect' phone. It will say it found 'LGVX8500.'
- On the filesystem tab, go to the OWS folder, and find the file paramtable1.fil
- Make a backup of this file before proceeding!
- Use BitPim to save a copy of paramtable1.fil that you are going to edit.
- Use your hex editor to:
- Change the first 'gw.vzwwap.com' to 208.38.178.138 (the second can be left alone for now)
- Change the first '8080' to 9201
- Change 'vzw' with the password you requested for ZaksWap.
- Now to change the username it is a two step process. first you must change the third hex value over from '00' to '20'. See this site for graphical views:
http://mark.cdmaforums.com/FreeWap-LG.htm
- Save the file and upload to the phone.
- Reboot your phone.
- Now you must change the username. Press Menu - 0 - 000000 - 8 - 3. Then change the username to your Zaks username, usually your phone number. Now the phone will auto reset, and you should be good to go. Have fun.
- Some users have reported that they needed to change their homepage to something other than http://homepage
- You can also modify that "chat" shortcut to launch your homepage. The default value should be "http://mw2.vzwwap.com/chat". Overwrite this value with "whatever you chose as your homepage url".
LG VX8550 (Chocolate 2.0)
1. Bitpim 1.0.5 supports the vx8550 filesystem. To view the phone's file system in Bitpim use 'detect' phone. It will say it found LGvx85500
2. Now, select the OWS folder. You should see a file named paramtable1.fil. Right click and save the file. NOTE: Be sure to save a backup copy of this file incase you mess up!
3. Open a hex editor - if you don't have one, type "hex editor" into google and click "I feel lucky."
4. Once your hex editor is open, open the paramtable1.fil file.
5. You should see 30 1E 00 01 at the beginning of the file, change your third offset to "20." It should look like this: 30 1E 20 01.
6. At this point, you can re-upload the file to your phone (overwrite the paramtable1.fil in the OWS folder) and continue to edit there, or edit some of VZW's hard coded links. NOTE: If you decide to edit VZW's links, DO NOT use the backspace key and DO NOT add any spaces. The file MUST remain the same size as before. Simply overwrite the previous link. If you need to add null characters after your link, simply type 00 for each hex offset once your link is completed until you meet the other null characters.
7. Once the file is on the phone, restart the phone with Bitpim.
8. Now press ##77647268550 (##program8550) and hit the SEND key. The service code is 000000.
9. Scroll down to the WAP setting (#5) and go into proxy address setting and then into primary address. Delete the previous address and enter 208.38.178.138 as the IP. NOTE: If you phone won't let you edit this, simply restart and start again at step #7.
10. Now go into Proxy port and Primary port and change that to 9201.
11. Now change the username and password to the 10 digit # and password when you registered for ZaksWap. Edit the homepage to any one that you prefer.

LG VX9900 (enV)
The procedure for setting up free WAP on the enV is almost identical to the procedure noted above for the LG VX8300 with the following exceptions:
For Silver phones with the 01 software revision:
- Make sure you have version 1.0.0 or newer of BitPim.
- Select VX9900 as the phone type.
For Silver phones with the 02 software revision: The phone must be placed in edit mode before the file system can be accessed. If it is not a "locked by provider" error will occur.
- Make sure you have version 1.0.0 or newer of BitPim.
- To get around this switch the phone setting from the vx9900 to the vx8700 and get data.
- Click continue on the long error message that pops up, switch back to the vx9900 and you should be able to get data now.
For Orange or Green enV phones and all enV phones with 04 software: Follow the procedure for the Silver phone with 02 software. After the phone has been rebooted to access the service menu:
- Open the flip
- type ##program9900 and press SEND
- enter 000000
Proceed as normal to change the server, port and homepage settings.
Is the paramtable1.fil file missing?
This error has popped up from time to time with some users. When accessing the phone with BitPim the paramtable1.fil file is not there. While there is not currently a complete explanation as to why this happens there are fixes. The first thing to try is disconnect from BitPim and try to access the mobile web using the default Verizon settings. Exit the browser then try connecting to BitPim again. If that doesn't seem to help try rebooting the phone. As a last resort try resetting the browser from the service menu. That's the same menu you use to go in and edit the WAP settings. The ultimate fix seems to be to keep trying. Eventually the phone will re-create that file so it can be edited/replaced.
OR
If you do not feel comfortable editing the file yourself you can download this modified version of the vx9900 paramtable1.fil here...http://www.zaksenterprises.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=84&func=startdown&id=2 Put this file onto your phone via Bitpim (follow the appropriate instructions above) and modify your IP and Port settings from your phones service menu {wap settings}.
Enjoy!
